On Saturday, 2-6-10 at 1937 hours Murrieta officers attempted to stop a 1997 Honda Accord for a vehicle code violation in the area of Murrieta Hot Springs Road and the I-15 freeway. The driver of the Honda fled from officers onto the northbound I-15. Officers learned that the vehicle was reported stolen from Diamond Bar, Ca. Officers pursued the Honda on the I-15 freeway and onto surface streets in the city of Wildomar reaching speeds of approximately 100 MPH. During the pursuit, the Honda slowed within the Windsong Valley residential tract of Wildomar and a passenger from the vehicle fled within this community. The driver of the Honda continued to flee from officers in the vehicle and, a short time later, collided with a Murrieta Police Department patrol unit in the 22000 block of Gierson Avenue in Wildomar. The driver of the Honda, Michelle Mills 26 year-old resident of Lake Elsinore, was taken into custody at the collision site without incident. No one from either vehicle (the Honda or the patrol unit) was injured as a result of the collision. The pursuit lasted a total of 12 minutes and covered approximately 13 miles.
Officers from the Murrieta Police Department, along with deputies/officers from the Riverside County Sheriffs Department and the California Highway Patrol assisted with the search of the passenger who fled the stolen vehicle but was met with negative results. Mills was later booked at the Southwest Detention Center for CVC 10851(a) Auto Theft, PC 496(a) Possession of Stolen Property, CVC 2800.2(a) Felony Evading, PC 1203.2(a) Probation Violation, B&P 4140 Possession of a Hype Syringe, and a felony drug warrant.
