Personal Goal Statement

An Economically Sound, Safe, Beautiful City

Mayor Pro Tem Randon Lane’s first priority and continued vision is to create a strong economic base in Murrieta by attracting professional and commercial business that will transform this city into a full-scale, livable community. Randon has been an appointed or elected official in the City of Murrieta for over 15 years, has successfully led the City as Mayor in 2011 and 2016 and brings a wealth of experience that is needed to implement this vision.  By focusing on the infrastructure needs of Murrieta, and continuing to provide the proper resources for our Police and Fire Departments, Murrieta will not only remain the safest place to live and work, it will become a model of opportunity and innovative government.

Personal Bio

Mayor Pro-Tem Randon Lane and his wife, Bridget “Bo”, have been married for 21 years, 17 of those in Murrieta. Together they have a daughter, Chelsea, 27 and son-in-law Sean and two sons Randon, Jr, 15 and Joshua, 11. They moved to Murrieta in hopes of finding the perfect place to raise their children. In Murrieta, they found a tight-knit community that shares their values of family, education and faith.

Randon has a strong background in business with decades of experience in the private sector. After graduating from college, he started working for Fortune 500 companies including AT&T Broadband, Nextel and Sprint and now serves as a Public Affairs Manager for SoCalGas the largest Natural Gas provider in the Nation. He understands what companies need to grow, what will attract new companies to our region, and what entrepreneurs need to start their own business. With a successful career in business, Randon became interested in public service. He decided he could accomplish more if he was directly involved in government, and in 2003 he was appointed to the Murrieta Planning Commission. In the following years Murrieta witnessed an incredible 70% population explosion, one of the largest increases in populations that has been realized by any city. While the population soared, Randon was a strong advocate of maintaining the necessary public infrastructure to ensure Murrieta could grow responsibly. In 2006, he joined the staff of Assemblyman Kevin Jeffries, gaining valuable experience, and working with residents on important issues.

In 2008 Randon was elected to the Murrieta City Council. While successfully leading Murrieta as Mayor in 2011 and 2016 he along with the City Council continued to prioritize investments in infrastructure and public safety making Murrieta one of the best-managed cities in Riverside County. Forbes named Murrieta the # 1 post-recession “boom town” in America and FBI statistics rank Murrieta the third safest city in the Nation among cities with populations over 100,000 residents. Randon’s strong leadership led his council colleagues to appoint him to represent them on agencies locally, regionally, statewide and nationally.
