Structure Fire Damages Colony Golf Restaurant and Clubhouse
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
City of Murrieta—Seventeen Murrieta firefighters worked quickly to contain a structure fire late Friday afternoon at the Colony Golf Clubhouse and restaurant, located at 40603 Colony Drive. Firefighters arrived on scene at approximately 4:55 p.m. to find smoke in the second floor restaurant area of the Golf Clubhouse, and quickly found the fire in the attic area of the building. Initial knockdown of the fire took just ten minutes with firefighters gaining full control of the fire fifteen minutes later.
The fire itself was contained to the attic and restaurant area of the Golf Clubhouse building, with smoke and water damage to the pro shop. The fire was not a threat to the Colony Association Clubhouse or nearby homes. Due to the size of the commercial structure, extensive overhaul operations were required to prevent the fire from rekindling and firefighters were expected to remain on scene for several hours. There was approximately $400,000 in damage to the building and the estimated property value saved is $2.1 million.
The restaurant was occupied at the time of the fire and everyone was able to escape unharmed. There were no injuries associated with this incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation. |
